-Who regulates the internet?
-Personally, do you think there should be internet censorship? Why?
After searching for the answers online on who regulates the internet, it turns out to be the Internet Engineering Task Force (a.k.a IETF) are the ones who regulates the internet. But the more I search for the answer, some even said that no one regulates the internet. This is making me confused as to who is the one that regulates the internet. The answers are varied and I can't seem to find the best answer as to who regulates the internet. There is also one of the website that states that the Federal Communications Commission is the one that regulates the internet. So, as I know, in my final answer, any form of government or non-government organization is the one that regulates the internet.
Personally, I think there should be internet censorship.Internet censorship is the censor concerning sensitive issues. If internet censorship happens, we can never know what we are expose to. For example, we can access the internet as much as we want without knowing our limits. This can lead to us being exposed to all kinds of social disorders especially for the youngsters who are still naive to a lot of things that are happening. This can lead them to be violent and to boast crime rate. With the internet censorship, most of this problems can be avoided.
We can take an example from China. The government of China block Facebook into their country to avoid their people to turn against them because if they were to exposed to the outside source, many of their people will not be trusting their own government.
Overall, the internet must have censorship with limitations. This can impose filter but not to fully restrict the people's freedom to voice out by having their own rights too.

ReplyDeleteOkay, let's look at this way, why do you think we should have Internet censorship? Is it to prevent youngsters exposed to all kinds of social networking, political, pornographic materials or whatever sensitive issues? This is not the Internet fault it is youngsters nature to be curious of our world and what is happening. For younger age group, parents should be responsible to give proper advice to their children. Teens and young adults should already have proper education and they have their right view the information. Filtering the Internet and editing the Internet is feeding us with lies. We have our rights to know!

I agree with your last paragraph sentence,"Overall, the internet must have censorship with limitations.". We have to have a certain level of censorship to control the internet flow.
